The Raven and Other Poems
To Helen
A Helena
Tradução do inglês
Helen, thy beauty is to me
Helena, a mim, essa beleza
Like those Nicean barks of yore,
Lembra as nicenas naus no mar,
That gently, o'er a perfumed sea,
Que, entre perfumes, com leveza,
The weary, wayworn wanderer bore
Levavam, lasso já de errar,
To his own native shore.
O nauta ao pátrio lar.
On desperate seas long wont to roam,
Errante em mar que nada doma,
Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face,
Trouxe-me ao lar a tez patrícia,
Thy Naiad airs have brought me home
Teu ar de Náiade, essa coma,
To the glory that was Greece,
Para a glória que era a Grécia,
And the grandeur that was Rome.
E a grandeza que era Roma.
Lo! in yon brilliant window-niche
Lá, na janela, entre clarões,
How statue-like I see thee stand,
Te vejo, estátua, em pé, no vão,
The agate lamp within thy hand!
Lâmpada de ágata na mão!
Ah, Psyche, from the regions which
Ah, Psique! vens das regiões
Are Holy Land!
Que são Sião!
